Every time I come across a new iPhone game, I run into the same issue, “These controls are too cumbersome for a touch screen.” No matter how Apple try’s to spin it, the touch screen is not a replacement for real controls. But to this day, developers try and cram console style games onto the device. That is why I find games like Tiny Wings to be so enjoyable on the iPhone.
Tiny wings is about as simple as games come. There is only one control input. You touch the screen to make your little birdy dive. The goal of the game is to move your bird across the screen avoiding the encroaching darkness. If it catches up with you, the little guy just calls it a night and goes to sleep.
The way you move through the world is brilliantly simple and addictive. The landscape is littered with hills, press the screen to dive down the hills and let off when going up in the air. With this, you gain momentum and speed. It’s a brilliant hook, the better you are at timing your dives, the more momentum you can keep.

Its simple pick up and play for 5 minute gameplay that the iPhone needs. Please stop giving me complicated action games with seven buttons. I just want to help my bird friends stave off the darkness.
At 99 cents, this is a definite buy from me.
